Owen Lee Hargreaves is an England international footballer who currently features for the Premiership football club Manchester United. He is a defensive midfielder.
Owen Hargreaves was born to a British family who migrated to Canada at the start of the 1980s. When he was 16, he was signed by Bayern Munich and played for the youth sides of the German powerhouse and made his German Bundesliga debut in August 2000 and gave a stupendous performance in the UEFA Champions League,semi-finals against Real Madrid.
He quickly crept into the regular first team at Bayern and was a regular for the German club in the 2001-2002 season. He would go onto play for Bayern until the summer of 2007 and played 145 German Bundesliga matches. He won the Bundesliga four times with Bayern(2001,2003,2005,2006) and the UEFA Champions League in 2001.
In the summer of 2007, Owen Hargreaves was signed by Manchester United for 17 million pounds and signed a four-year contract with the club. He featured in 23 Premiership league games in the 2007-2008 season.
Owen Hargreaves was eligible to play for Canada and Germany as well as for England and in the end Hargreaves decided to play for England. He made his debut for England in 2001 and featured at the 2002 World Cup,Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup.
