An Argentine footballer born in Formosa, Hugo Benjamin Ibarra currently plays for Boca Juniors, a First Division club. Ibarra began his football career with Colon de Santa Fe, which was in the Second Division at the time. After he joined the club, in two years they were promoted to the First Division, and soon he was noticed by Boca Juniors.
But the move to Boca was not final, and after three seasons Ibarra moved to Europe. He played only one season with FC Porto, a Portuguese club, and as he did not have a European passport he had to return to Argentina and to Boca. The next year he played a season for Monaco FC, a French club and then with RCD Espanyol, in Spain.
Furthermore, Ibaraa played six matches with National football team of Argentina, and has played in international tournaments such as the Copa America. Ibarra returned to Boca in 2005, and in 2007 he once again played with Argentine national football team, as the captain.
