Fabian Alberto Cubrero is an Argentine football player who is considered to be an enforcer of sorts. A player who can play both as a defender and as a midfielder, Cubrero has been known to be quite tough in his challenges. Nicknamed Poroto, his private life, with his girlfriend, has also been very public & romantic even.
Cubrero began his professional career at Velez Sarsfield, in 1996. Since then, barring a single season at UNAL Tigres in Mexico, Cubrero has been with Velez all his life. In 1998, Cubrero won the Clausura tournament but was not part of the playing eleven on most occasions. He slowly gained more importance to the squad and became a regular member of the squad. In their next triumph, the 2005 Clausura win, Cubrero was an integral part of the squad. His first goal for the club came as part of a 3-0 score-line against Estudiantes, a match where Velez were confirmed as Clausura 2005 champions.
At the International level, Cubrero only played for his country at the Under-20 level. In 1997, Cubrero was part of the World Youth Cup winning squad that won the title in Malaysia.
