Marco Amelia is an Italian football player who currently features for the Italian Serie A club AC Milan. He plays as a goalkeeper and was the third choice custodian for the triumphant Italian national side at the 2006 Germany World Cup finals.

Amelia is a graduate of the youth academy of AS Roma and was loaned out to Italian side Livorno in 2001 and was quickly signed up by them on a permanent deal.

Amelia played for Livorno until the end of the 2007-2008 season and made 165 league appearances. He was a regular at Livorno and saved several matches for his side and was tipped to be part of the Italian national set-up in the long run.

Amelia was signed by Palermo in the summer of 2008 after Livorno got relegated from the Serie A at the end of the 2007-2008 season. In 2009 he joined Genoa and after playing for AC Milan in 2011, was signed up by the Italian champions in the summer.

However, Amelia has failed to establish himself as a first-choice custodian for the Rossoneri.

Amelia made his international debut for Italy on November 16, 2005 against Ivory Coast and came on as a substitute for Christian Abbiati. He was the third choice for Italy at the 2006 Germany World Cup finals but he didn’t feature in any match. His last match for the Azzurri came in 2009.
