Jose Manuel ‘Pepe’ Reina Paez is a Spanish football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Liverpool. He plays as a goalkeeper and is regarded as one of the better custodians in the modern game.

Pepe Reina developed at the Barcelona youth academy and was part of the first team from 2000 to 2002. However, he failed to impress himself at Camp Nou and moved to Villarreal, playing for the Yellow Submarine until 2005 and making a name for himself both in Spain and in Europe.

Reina was signed by Liverpool and he was an instant hit in the Premier League. He has since played more than 250 league games for the former English and European champions and is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Reina made his international debut for Spain in 2005 but has made just over 25 appearances for La Furia Roja. He was part of Spain’s Euro 2008, 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 winning squad.
