Mate Bilic is a Croatian football player who currently features for the Spanish first division side Sporting de Gijon. He plays as a striker.
Mate Bilic started his professional club football career at Hajduk Split in Croatia in 1997 and played for them for four years, scoring 18 goals in 62 matches. He was then signed by Real Zaragoza for one season and became a footballing journeyman as he has since played for Almeria in Spain, then Sporting de Gijon, Cordoba and LLeida and was signed by Austrian club SK Rapid Wien in the summer of 2006 but after scoring 11 goals in 35 league matches, Bilic returned t Spain in January 2008 to Sporting de Gijon and has become a first choice regular for Sporting.
