Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins is a young Nigerian international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Newcastle United. He is a striker and is one of the best players of Africa.
Obafemi Martins started his professional football career at Italian giants Inter Milan and made his debut for the senior side in 2002 against Parma in December of that year. He broke into the first team the following season and soon impressed with his great skills, flicks, tricks, hard work and exceptional pace and energy.
He played for Inter Milan for four season, making 111 Italian Serie A appearances and scoring 37 goals. He also featured prominently in the UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan.
Newcastle signed Obafemi Martins in 2006 for 15 million euros on a five year contract. He was quickly drafted into the first team and performed quite well. He scored 28 goals in 71 matches in his first two seasons in the Premiership.
Obafemi Martins made his international debut for Nigeria in 2004 and has played 21 matches for his nation, scoring 13 goals. He played for Nigeria at the 2006 African Cup of Nations.
