Emanuel Pogatetz is an Austrian international football player who currently features for Hannover 96. He is a defender who can play at right back or in centre back and is also the captain of Middlesbrough.
Emanuel Pogatetz made his professional club debut with FC Karnten club in Austria in 2000 and after one season was signed by Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. He played for the German Bundesliga club until the summer of 2005 but never made any league appearance as he spent his time on loan to FC Aarau,Grazer AK and Spartak Moscow.
Middlesbrough signed Emanuel Pogatetz in 2005 and he even became the captain for Middlesbrough as well as a very important player.
He made his international debut for Austria in 2002 and has played 47 matches for his nation so far, scoring 2 goals.
Career Highlights
Whilst playing for the Karnten team, Emanuel won the Austrian Cup in 2001. Moreover, in 2004, he won the Austrian League and the Austrian Cup in 2004 whilst playing for the Grazer AK team.
