Gary Paul O’Neil is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League football club Middlesbrough. He is a right midfielder.
Gary O’Neil started his professional club career at Portsmouth and on January 29,2000 became the club’s youngest ever player as a 16-year old. He played against Barnsley that season but did not make any appearance again in the 1999-2000 campaign.
O’Neil soon developed into a fascinating player at Portsmouth and played for Pompey until 2007, featuring in 174 league matches. He also had loan spells at Walsall in 2003 and at Cardiff City in 2004.
Middlesbrough signed Gary O’Neil in the summer of 2007 for a reported 5 million pounds and was a relative success in his first season at the Riverside Stadium.
