Dimitar Berbatov is a Bulgaria international striker who currently features for the English Premier League side Manchester United. He plays as a striker and is rated as one of the best players in the world.
After playing for Pirin Blagoevgrad and CSKA Sofia, Berbatov was signed by Bayer Leverkusen in January 2001, but for the couple or so seasons he played as a substitute. He then became a regular and at the end of the 2005-2006 season had racked up 69 goals in 154 German Bundesliga matches.
In the summer of 2006 Tottenham Hotspur signed Berbatov for 16 million euros. He then became the most expensive Bulgarian transfer. Berbatov became a hit in the Premier League right from the very start and in his first two seasons scored 27 goals in 69 league games.
Berbatov was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer of 2008 and eventually joined the former European champions. He has since won the Premier League twice as well as the Football League Cup, the FA Community Shield and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Berbatov made his international debut for Bulgaria in 1999 and has gone on to play over 75 matches, scoring more than 40 goals. He is said to be the best Bulgarian player since Hristo Stoichkov.
