Papa Bouba Diop is a Senegalese international football player who currently features for the English Premier League side Portsmouth. He is a midfielder and scored the first goal of the 2002 World Cup against France, which led to a 1-0 for the French.
Papa Bouba Diop started his career at Neuchatel Xamax in 1996 and moved to Swiss giants Grasshoppers in 2000. After one season he was signed by French side RC Lens and played for them for two seasons with pomp between 2002 and 2004.
Fulham signed Diop in 2004 and he played for them for three years and featured in 76 Premier League matches.
Portsmouth signed Papa Bouba Diop in the summer of 2007 on a free transfer.
Papa Bouba Diop made his international debut for Senegal in 1999 and has played 38 matches for his nation, scoring 9 goals. He played at the 2002 World Cup.
