Albert Riera Ortega is a Spanish football club who currently features for the English Premier League club Liverpool. He plays as a left back and can also play as a left sided midfielder.

Albert Riera commenced his career with Real Mallorca in 2000 and won the Copa del Rey with the Islanders in 2003. After making close to 50 league matches, he moved to French Bordeaux in the summer of 2003. He was a regular first team player for Bordeaux in his two seasons in French Ligue 1 and moved to Espanyol Barcelona in the suumer of 2005.

But Riera was unable to make himself a regular at Espanyol in his first season in Barcelona and moved on loan to Manchester City on loan in January 2006. He was decently successful at the City of Manchester Stadium and was recalled to Espanyol at the start of the 2006-2007 season.

He was a regular since his rejoining at Espanyol but he has expressed his inclination to leave the club. He was signed by Liverpool in the summer of 2008 for a reported fee between 5.5 million pounds and 8 million pounds on a four-year deal.

Albert Riera won his first international cap for Spain in October 2007 when he scored a wonderful solo goal against Denmark in a Euro 2008 qualifier. He has played four more matches for Spain since then.
