Alberto Lopo is a Catalan and began his career for Espanyol Barcelona in 1999. He made his La Liga debut when he was just 18 years of age against Real Zaragoza in April 1999 and was a full regular from the 2001-2002 season.
Alberto Lopo played for Espanyol until the summer of 2006 and scored 9 goals in 178 league matches during the time. He won the Copa del Rey with Espanyol in 2000 and 2006.
Alberto Lopo was signed by Deportivo la Coruna on a free transfer in the summer of 2006 and became an instant first team regular for the Galician giants.
