Matthieu Chalme is a professional football player from France who plays as a defender in the right-back position. Matthieu began his playing career for a lower division side by the name FC Libourne-Saint-Seurin. It wasn’t his first academy but it was definitely the first time that Chalme was in a formal academy structure with the prospect for future growth. In 2002, just a year after joining the club, Chalme was picked up by Lille OSC and he would make his professional debut in 2002.

From 2002 to 2007, Chalme spent 5 seasons at Lille and after being used sparingly as a substitute, in the beginning, he moved into the first team with 128 games under his belt and a regular member of the starting line-up. The search for titles took him to FC Girondins de Bordeaux, in 2007, and Chalme fit right into the first team once again.

He helped Bordeaux win the 2008-09 Ligue 1 title as well as the Coupe de la Ligue in that same year. That year, and the next, Bordeaux also won the Trophee des Champions and Chalme established himself as an indispensible part of the first team. He has made almost 120 appearances for Bordeaux so far, scoring just 1 goal to add to his three goal-tally from Lille.
