A professional football player from Paraguay, Adalberto Roman Benitez plays as a defender in the position of centre-back. A graduate of the famous youth academy at Libertad, Roman broke into the first team at the club in 2006. From 2006 to 2010, he stayed in the squad, but Roman wasn’t getting regular playing time with the side.

He played just about 80-odd games for Libertad, scoring 8 goals, and became a part of four league title winning sides of Libertad, in 2006, 2007, and twice in 2008 (Apertura and Clausura).He moved to the famous River Plate, in Argentina, but after two seasons of sporadic appearances, only played 30 or so games before moving out to Brazil on loan to Palmeiras.

Since 2009, Roman has also played for the Paraguayan national team although his club form and appearances haven’t been consistent enough. He has played only 32 games for River Plate before playng another nine for Palmeiras, in 2012, along with the 2012 Copa do Brasil title.
