A professional football player from Argentina, Jesus Alberto Datolo plays as a midfielder who can run down either wing. Datolo began his playing career at the Canuelas youth academy in 2000. After spending three years in this team, Datolo’s talent was identified and Club Atletico Banfield brought him into their youth academy.
In 2004, Datolo made his debut with the first team and played over 41 times for Banfield, in the league, scoring 6 goals. Datolo was signed up by Argentine giants Boca Juniors and for four seasons, became a regular member of the first team. He helped Boca win the 2006 Recopa Sudamericana title, the 2007 Copa Libertadores title, the 2008 Recopa Sudamericana title and the 2008 Apertura title.
By the time 2009 came, Datolo made his debut for the Argentine national team and also moved to Italy to sign up with SSC Napoli. While the international appearances were going well, Datolo didn’t find too many takers at the club level. He was sent out on loan to Olympiacos in Greece, in 2010, but was returned 7 games later only to be sent to Espanyol, in Spain.
Espanyol had an option to buy Datolo if they thought that he was worth it and Datolo, in his 14 games during the loan spell, made it seem worthwhile. Espanyol bought Datolo in 2011 and for the next season, he spent most of his time on the bench, making just 5 appearances for the team.
In 2012, Datolo moved back to South America, signing with Brazilian giants Internacional. He has played 22 times for the club so far, and scored 10 goals.
At the international level, Datolo has scored two goals in three games for Argentina including his debut goal that came after just 20 seconds of coming onto the pitch. The other came against Brazil in a world cup qualifying game.
