Between 1997 and 1998, he move to Bragantino and played for the first team. In 1999, Indio moved to Santo Andre where he finally made an impression on the big boys and Figuirense came calling in 2000. In 2002, Juventude came hunting for his signature and Indio became a regular member of the team over the next three seasons. In 2006, they would win the Copa Libertadores title as well as the FIFA Club World Cup. The following year, India would help the side win the Recopa Sudamericana title followed by the 2008 Campeonato Gaucho, the 2008 Dubai Cup and the 2008 Copa Sudamericana titles.

In 2009, the team won the Suruga Bank Championships as well as another consecutive Campeonato Gaucho title. Indio had become a major part of this fantastic team and was an important asset when it came to leading the side to the 2010 Copa Libertadores triumph. The following season, Indio would lead the team to a Recopa Sudamericana title and a Campeonato Gaucho title while in 2012, the team won another consecutive Campeonato Gaucho title with Indio leading from the back.

On an individual level, Indio was awarded the 2006 Brazilian Bola de Prata or the Silver Ball, given to the second-best player in the entire Brazilian league. He has played almost 340 games for his club, scoring 31 goals in the process.
