A professional football player from Brazil, Wellington Nascimento Silva plays as a defender in the right-back position. Silva began his playing career at a tiny club in his home town called Pao de Acucar. In 2007, his talent was noticed by scouts from Gremio and they swooped in on Silva and brought him to the Gremio youth academy. After spending 2007 and 2008 with the youth team, Silva broke into the first team at Gremio in 2009.
Unable to secure a regular playing spot, Silva looked elsewhere for employment and moved to Olaria Atletico Clube in the lower divisions of Brazilian football. In 2011, Silva was on the move again, first signing up with Resende Futebol Clube and then moving to Madureira Esporte Clube later in the year. At the end of the year, Silva had to move back to Resende but his performances at the lower division was catching people’s eyes.
In 2012, Flamengo surprised everyone when they decided to invest in the talent of this young right-back. The brought him in for the season and are hoping that he will be able to reach his potential while playing with the reserve and first team squad.
