Marcos Andres Gonzalez Salazar is a professional football player who plays as a defender. A Chilean national, Marcos was born in Brazil and moved to Chile at the age of two. Marcos was part of the youth academy at Universidad de Chile in 1994. Over the next five seasons, he worked his way up the team and made his debut for the first team in 1999. After a slow start to his career at the club, Marcos slowly began making a place for himself, ending up with over 50 caps in four seasons of football, scoring twice.

In that period, Marcos had also spent a year out on loan to Rangers de Talca, where he played 23 games and scored a goal. He moved to Argentina in 2004, after ending his association with Universidad de Chile, and signed with Colon de Santa Fe. 13 games were all Marcos got for the entire season and he moved to CD Palestino in Chile for the 2005 season.

A regular starter for the club, Marcos caught the eye of Columbus Crew from the Major League Soccer scene in the United States and moved there for two seasons. He played almost 50 games for the Crew, before returning to Chile and signing up with Universidad Catolica.

For the next three seasons, Marcos would be a permanent fixture in the Catolica first team, playing almost 90 games and scoring 10 goals for the club. He moved back to Universidad de Chile in 2011 and after 25 games in the season, moved out to Flamengo in Brazil. Marcos is currently looking to make a regular place for himself in the first team, having managed only one appearance so far.

At the international level, Marcos has made 11 appearances for the senior national team and those appearances came during the qualifying campaign for the 2006 World Cup.
