Fred Burgel

A professional football player from Brazil, Frederico Burgel Xavier plays as a defender. In 2004, Frederico, also known as Fred, began his playing career at Internacional where he struggled for a first team place until 2006. He was, however, quite a strong prospect at the youth level and his time with the Internacional reserve team had opened up a place for him on the Standard Liege line-up.

Fred moved to Belgium but the move didn’t work out too well as the Brazilian failed to make an impact on his new team, ending up with just 10 appearances from his two seasons with the team. He moved to Verbroedering Dender, a team in the Belgian first division but when the team was relegated at the end of the season, he moved back to Brazil. Fred signed up with Juventude in Brazil, for 2010-11, before moving onto Figueirense in 2011. He continues to struggle for a place in the first team, spending most of his time on the reserve bench.
