A professional football player from Brazil, Rodrigo Fernandes Valete plays as a midfielder, albeit in an attacking role. Fernandes began his playing career at the youth ranks of Corinthians in 1997 and after graduation from the academy, couldn’t find a place in the club’s first team. However, it didn’t take Fernandes long to find a club to play for and Santos picked up this promising youngster in 1998.
However, after 8 games and a goal for the club, he moved to Independente-SP within the same year. The following year, he moved to Portuguesa-Santista before moving on, in the same year, to Figeuirense. Fernandes was struggling for a starting spot in all his teams but he would spend three seasons at Figueirense, playing with the first team squad.
In 2002, Fernandes joined Palmeiras but before playing a single game for the team, he moved back to Figueirense. After spending 2003 on loan to Jeonbuk Motors in South Korea and the following year at Al-Shabab in the UAE, Fernandes returned with experience under his belt and found a permanent place in the starting line-up at Figueirense. Since his return from loan, Fernandes has scored 25 goals in over 120 league appearance for the team.
