Marcelo Oliveira Ferreira is a professional football player from Brazil who plays as a midfielder with a focus on the defensive side of the game. In 2005, Marcelo began playing in the youth divisions with Corinthians and broke into the first team in the following season. From 2006 to 2011, Marcelo was part of the Corinthians line-up but spent most of his time out on loan to other teams. In his first year as a senior professional, Marcelo was sent out on loan to Paulista Futebol Clube where he spent the entire 2006 and 2007 seasons.
His next loan move would come in 2010, when Marcelo was down at Gremio Prudente, making an eventual 29 appearances as well as scoring a goal. The following season, Atletico Paranaense would be the loan-destination for Marcelo, playing another 21 games before moving to Cruzeiro for the 2012 season. Between his various loan spells, Marcelo spent his time playing with the reserve team at Corinthians, notching up 29 first team appearances and a goal, although most came as a substitute.
