A professional football player from Brazil, Elkeson de Oliveira Cardoso plays as a midfielder, in the hole behind the forwards. Having been picked up by Esporte Clube Vitoria, in 2001, as a 12-year old, Elkeson spent 8 years in their youth academy before breaking into the first team. Elkeson broke into the first team in 2009, and over the next two seasons, showed off the promise he had demonstrated in the youth team.
Playing over 45 games, initially as a substitute and then as a regular starter, Elkeson really set the stage alight with his performances, scoring seven goals in the process. He was picked for the Brazilian national team for their clash against Argentina, dubbed as the Superclasico de las Americas, in 2011. It was the same year that Elkeson also won a move to Botafogo, and has slotted into the first team with 5 goals from just 8 appearances.
