Michael Robson Signorini, also known as Robinho, is a professional football player from Brazil who plays as a midfielder, albeit in an attacking role. A delightful find for Sport Club Internacional, Robinho began his playing career in 2001, with the Internacional youth academy. His attacking ability and vision was immediately evident and Robinho was considered one of the best upcoming talents in Brazilian football.

However, near his exit from the youth academy, in 2005, Robinho’s form dipped drastically and Internacional decided against giving him a run in their first team squad. Eventually, Robinho signed up with Varginha Esporte Clube in the lower divisions of Brazilian football. The following season, he moved Democrata before moving up to Mogi-Mirim in 2006.

From 2006 to 2008, Robinho delighted audiences with some exceptional displays and became one of the best players in the Mogi-Mirim line-up. In 2008, Santos Futebol Clube identified this youngster as a strong prospect and brought him if for the 2008 season. After being the top-scorer for Mogi-Mirim, and earning a move to Santos, he got “Robinho” as his nickname, after the, more popular, Brazilian striker.

Playing just over 30 times for Santos, over three seasons, wasn’t good enough for Robinho and he decided to leave for a smaller club where he would get more time on the pitch. In 2011, Robinho moved to Avai Futebol Clube on loan, at first, and helped the team win the Catarinense title by scoring five times and creating many more, over 28 games. Avai decided to offer him a full contract at the end of the season and Robinho is, since then, a full-time player in the first team squad at the club.
