Emerson Pereira Nunes is a central defender and a professional football player who hails from Brazil. Having graduated from the America Futebol Clube youth academy in 2002, Emerson began his playing career with the senior team and a long loan spell. As soon as he was picked into the first team at America Futebol Clube, Emerson was sent out on loan to C. D. Nacional, in Portugal.

Spending four seasons at the Portuguese team, Emerson played over 60 games and scored a goal, before returning to Brazil in 2007. After just 19 games for the first team, Emerson was sent out on loan to Ipatinga, in 2008. He returned shortly after, but was soon sent off on his way to Botafogo the same season. After 26 games during his loan spell, Botafogo decided to make his move permanent.

He was brought in and was part of the team that won the 2009 Taca Guanabara title. Despite being a part of the winning team, Emerson barely played a role with just 18 appearances over the two seasons. In 2010, the club decided to sell him to Avai Futebol Clube, where he has played around 20-odd games over two seasons.
