Cristian Gabriel Rodriguez Barotti is a Uruguayan football player who features for the Spanish football club Atletico Madrid. He plays as a winger and is rated as one of the best players in his position in Europe.
Rodriguez started playing professionally when he was a youngster, for the C.A. Penarol team in the Uruguayan first division, helping the side to the 2003 league title. However, an injury ruled him out for some of the matches in late 2004. In 2005, he was signed by Paris Saint-Germain.
He scored his only goal for PSG in 4-2 home victory against AS Monaco, and by late August 2007, Rodriguez moved to Benfica team for a season long-loan and after becoming one of the most vital players of Reds team through 2007-08, he was bought in June 2008 by Porto.
Rodriguez won the Portuguese league with Porto in 2009, 2011 and 2012, the Portuguese Cup in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and the Europa League in 2010-11.
Rodriguez’s Uruguayan national side debut came at the age of 18 in a friendly match held against Mexico, where he represented in two of the Copa America matches, scoring in 2007 in a 4-1 victory over Venezuela, the host team. He has since played in over 50 international matches for his country.
