A central defender who can win balls as easily as he can start attacks, Willian Lanes de Lima or, plain & simply, Lima is a professional football player from Brazil. Lima was a member of the youth team at Corinthians Alagoano, in 2003-04. He was scouted by Atletico Mineiro and picked up for their first team, in 2004.

After three seasons where he made very few, but promising appearances for the team, Real Betis decided to swoop in on this young player. However, Lima was never able to establish himself in the league after several attempts and caps as a substitute. In 2010, Betis decided to send him out on loan to Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, however Lima failed his medical test and the move collapsed.

Just before the window closed down, Atletico Mineiro decided to pounce on the opportunity once again and brought Lima back into their squad. Lima is back in familiar territory, with the team where he won the Brazilian Second Division title (2007) as well as the Minas Gerais State Championship title in 2007 and 2010.
