Alvaro Negredo progressed through the youth division of Raya Vallecano and played for Real Vallecano B in the 2004-2005 season and for the first team the following season. In the summer of 2005, he switched to Real Madrid Castilla and played for them for the next two seasons and developed into an impressive striker.
He was called up for a number of Copa del Rey matches during the 2006-2007 season by the then Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello but he never played for the senior team in a league fixture.
Alvaro Negredo then signed for Almeria in the summer of 2007 and scored 13 goals in 37 league matches in his first season for Almeria. He was the top scored for Almeria in the 2007-2008 season.
