Born on 10 January 1984 in Luanda, Nando Rafael is an Angolan-German professional footballer playing currently for FC Augsburg as a striker.
He commenced his career with the little known German club Ajax and continued his practice with the same for next seven years till 2001. In 2001 he was promoted to the senior squad of the club and in the same year he was relegated to the reserve team Ajax II. Subsequently he left Ajax to join Hertha BSC in 2002 making the maximum number of 70 appearances while scoring 16 goals. In 2006 he joined Borussia Mönchengladbach and continued playing in it for 2 years. He also played with AGF team (Aarhus Gymnastikforening) and has been loaned by it to FC Augsburg in 2010 for a year. After being noticed for his convincing performance, he has been shifted permanently to Augsburg.
Rafael eventually received a German passport and hence has received a German international football in U-21 level. He is waiting for the approval of FIFA to officially represent Angola in 2012 Africa Cup of Nations .
