Maikel Aerts is a professional football player presently playing for Hertha BSC Berlin. This Dutch goalkeeper was born on 26th June 1976 in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Aerts began his career at FC Den Bosch, playing in almost 107 games for Den Bosch between 1994 and 2001, 9 games for Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen from 2001-02 and 71 games for RBC Roosendaal from 2002 to 2005. Later on, he moved to Feyenoord Rotterdam from 2005 to 2007. It was during the 2005-06 season, when Aerts made some serious mistakes, and for this he was also banned by the coach, Erwin Koeman. As of July 2006, he was transferred to Willem II from Tilburg.
By 3rd February 2007, he played his first Eredivisie match against Heracles Almelo. On 3rd June 2010, he left the Netherlands, signing a two year contract with the team of Hertha BSC.
