Garra Dembélé is a professional football player playing for SC Freiburg as a forward. This French born Malian football player has signed a four year contract, starting from 2011-12 season. At 6’2, Garra played for many major teams like Auxerre B, Istres, AGF, Pierikos, Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Levski Sofia, SC Freiburg, France U18-U19 and Mali National Football team.
Garra began his football career in INF Clairefontaine, prior to getting transferred to Auxerre. It was on 1st June 2006, when he got released from the club for disciplinary reasons. In January 2007, he joined the team of Istres and after six months, he moved to the team of AGF Arhus. In July 2008, he signed with the team of Pierikos in Greece.
After a year and a half, where he played in 32 games, scoring 6 goals, Garra left Pierikos to sign with Lokomotiv Plovdiv, a Bulgarian club in January 2010. He appeared in 14 games for the team of Smurfs, scoring five goals. On 5 June 2010, he signed with Levski Sofia. Four days later, he was officially presented as a Levski Sofia player. This transfer fee was 200,000 euros on a three year contract basis. Moreover, he made his unofficial debut against Metalist Kharkiv on 1st July 2010, scoring 3-2 victory.
Garra was also a part of the France U18 team from 2003 to 2004. He was eligible to represent either Mali or France at senior international level, but in November 2010, he played for Mali team. He earned his first callup to the national side of Mali, for a friendly match held against Congo DR, but didn’t feature in the match. On 8th February 2011, he ultimately made his debut for Mali, playing the first 45 minutes of the 0-1 loss against Ivory Coast in a friendly match. On 11th November 2011, he earned his second cap for Mali in 1:1 draw match and by January 2012, he got selected in the Mali squad for the 2012 African Cup of Nations. Later on, he performed well at the matches that he appeared.
