Hatem Ben Arfa is a France international football player who currently features for the Premier League club Newcastle United. He plays as a winger and is considered as one of the best players in the English top flight.
Ben Arfa commenced his professional club football career at French giants Lyon and played for them from 2004 until 2008. He scored seven goals in 64 Ligue 1 appearances for the club, winning the league title in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Ben Arfa also won the Coupe de France with Lyon in 2007-08 and the Trophee des champions two years in a row between 2006 and 2007.
In 2008 Ben Arfa joined Marseille where he continued with his impressive run of form, scoring nine goals in 63 Ligue 1 matches in two seasons before joining Newcastle United on loan in August 2010. In January 2011 the two clubs reached on a permanent settlement as the player continued his rehabilitation from a broken left leg.
Ben Arfa, who won Ligue 1, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions with Marseille in 2010, returned from injury for Newcastle at the start of the 2011-12 season and has proved his importance to Alan Pardew’s side since then.
Ben Arfa made his international debut for France against the Faroe Islands in a Euro 2008 qualifier on October 10, 2007. However, he failed to cement his place in the squad for the finals, but made it to the 23-man squad for France’s Euro 2012 finals.
