Andrew Barronimage:Andy Barron midfielder|Andy Barron midfielder is a retired New Zealand association football player, who played as a central midfielder for the team. His last match was played for Team Wellington in the New Zealand Football Championship. He also played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in an All White match, which made him one of the very few amateur All Whites recently.
Andy, as he is known by, retired from the football field on 20th July, 2010. This New Zealand investment banker played the last four minutes for the team with 1-1 draw against Italy. After this match, he received international claim as an odd man out amongst the highest paid football players in the world.
Born in Invercargill in New Zealand, Andrew has played a number of matches with various professional football teams. These teams include Miramar Rangers, William Carey University, Lisburn Distillery, Canterbury United and many others. He is one of the few football players from the New Zealand Football Championship reckoned for international honors.
At five feet ten inches, Andrew made his football career with Petone from 1988 and was with this team till 1997. With the national team, he played for few years from 2006 to 2010 and made 12 appearances, scoring one goal.
