Tony James Lochheadimage:Tony Lochhead |Tony Lochhead is a New Zealand football player who at present plays for Wellington Phoenix team of the A-League. He is the only player having the club record of maximum number of appearances for the Phoenix team. At six feet, Tony played for Tauranga City United and UC Santa Barbara Gauchos during his youth years.
Since 2004, he is playing for Orange County Blue Star, with 10 appearances and scoring one goal. From 2005 to 2007, he played for New England Revolution, making 16 appearances. Other than these teams, he played for Wellington Phoenix team since 2007 with 74 appearances and one goal to his name.
Subsequently, he played for New Zealand under 17, with 3 appearances and with the New Zealand under 23 team from 2003-04, making six appearances and scored one goal. Since 2003, he is playing for the New Zealand national football team and has made 33 appearances.
It was on 10th May 2010 that Tony was named in the New Zealand final match to compete at the FIFA World Cup 2010. He was also included in the FIFA World Cup Qualifying 2006 and in the FIFA Confederations Cup squad 2009.
