André Antonius Maria Ooijer> is a Dutch football player who presently plays for AFC Ajax team since 2010. He has been playing for the national team since 1998 and till date has made around 55 caps and has scored 3 goals. He was selected in the preliminary round for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa and on 2nd July, he was called in to the starting 11 of the team. The team won by 2-1 over Brazil just 20 minutes prior which Andre replaced the injured Joris Mathijsen.
Some of his major teams include FC Volendam (1994 -1995), Roda (1995-1998), PSV (1998 to 2006) and Blackburn Rovers (2006-09). Since his childhood days, he was talented player and had started playing for other amateur clubs like SDZ and SDW at a tender age of 12. During the 1986-87 season, he joined Ajax Amsterdam and played on a loan deal to FC Volwndam in the 1994-95 season prior to signing for Roda JC as a permanent transfer. Throughout his football career, he excelled at right back position though he could not operate at center back position and defensive midfield position.
Mid season 1997-98 saw this defender joining PSV Eindhoven and during this time, he got chosen for the World Cup in 1998 in France. Simultaneously, he won the Eredivisie title with PSV for five times and also the Dutch cup once. Moreover, he was a regular participant with the club in the Champions League.
