Milan Jovanovic is a Serbian football player who presently plays for the English club, Liverpool. This striker got transferred to this club in 2010 after he played for the Standard Liege, a Belgium club for four years. Milan was also a member of the Serbian national football team since he made his international debut in 2007.
Born in 1981 in Bajina Bašta, Milan stands six feet tall. He made his debut during the 1999-2000 season with FK Vojvodina. He spent his early football career at Lokomotiv Moscow and at Shakhtar Donetsk, prior to moving to Standard Liege in 2006. Here, he instantly became a favorite amongst his teammates and fans after scoring 14 goals in his first season itself. After this episode, he earned the nickname, “the snake” for his incredible swift movement around the pitch.
Later on, after two seasons in Belgium, he turned down a move to Real Madrid, the Spanish giants in 2009 as he was more worried that he won’t be able to play in regular basis. However. Milan became successful in Belgium and on 13th January, 2010, he was named as the Jupiler League’s Player of the year.
It was on 8th July 2010 that he got transferred to Liverpool FC on a free transfer. On 29th July 2010, he made his debut for this team with 2-0 away victory against FK Rabotnicki in the Europa League. The same year, on 5th August, he made his home debut too with 2-0 victory against Rabotnicki in the Europa League and also his Premier League debut against Arsenal with a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
It was in 2007 when Milan made his debut for the Serbian national football team against Finland where the team won by 2-0 with Milan scoring the second goal. He was the top scorer of the team on the 2010 World Cup Qualifier. On 21 May, 2010, he got selected in the team’s initial 23 man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2010 by Coach Radomir Antic. By 18th June, 2010, he even scored his first goal in the FIFA World Cup whilst playing against Germany in group D match, with his team winning the game by 1-0.

Till date, Milan has won many honors and awards. In 2004, he won the Ukrainian cup for Shakhtar Donetsk team and the Russian Premier League for the Lokomotiv Moscow team. For Standard Liege, he won the Belgian League in 2007-08 and in 2008-09 and the Belgian Supercup in 2008 and in 2009 respectively.
Individually, Milan has won the Belgian Footballer of the year in 2007-08 and the Belgian Golden Shoe in 2009.
