Juan Alberto Andreu Alvarado, affectionately known as Melli, is a Spanish footballer who currently features for the Spanish side Real Betis. He plays as a central defender and is also versatile to play as a right back. He has a twin brother.
Melli commenced his professional footballing career at Real Betis after graduating from the youth academy at the Andalucian club. He was sent on loan at first, to Polideportivo Ejido in the 2001-2002 and played just two games during this period.
But he was recalled to the Betis set-up and made his debut for the senior side in 2002 and scored his first goal for the club in September 2004 against Osasuna. He is now a regular starter for Betis and played for them in the 2005-2006 UEFA Champions League too.
Melli has been a member of the Spanish youth set-ups but has yet to make his way through to the senior Spanish national team.
