Real Madrid Still Chasing Ronaldo

Once a transfer rumour has been spread in the football market, it’s almost impossible to remove it entirely.

Once a transfer rumour has been spread in the football market, it’s almost impossible to remove it entirely. Real Madrid have been linked with big money signing of the Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo since the summer of 2006 when President Ramon Calderon took office but the Madrid giants have failed to lure the 23-year old Portuguese international star to the Bernabeu till now.

But now Real seem to be seriously serious about signing Ronaldo. Reports from Spain suggest that the club’s sporting director Predrag Mijatovic was in Manchester on Tuesday to talk directly with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes for a possible move for the player at the end of the season.

Manchester United confront AS Roma on the second leg of their last 8 tie in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday and Ronaldo is expected to play a pivotal role in the match. Mijatovic was eager to know whether Ronaldo is really interested in moving to the Spanish capital this summer or not.

But is reported that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to stay on at Old Trafford for one more season at least and suddenly Real Madrid have had to swallow the humble pie once again. Not that this would brush aside all rumours. AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has long said that his top player Kaka is not for sale but Real are still chasing the Brazilian ace. They would do the same when it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo, it seems.
