Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp insists his side will recover after Saturday’s 2-1 UEFA Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium.
The 2011-12 German champions are set to lose Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski in the off-season and following a trophy-less campaign there are fears the club’s dominant era is over, but Klopp remained bullish.
“We have to go on,” he said.
“We have to buy some players because we need some players because other clubs want our players.”
He added: “I’ve told the players that we will come back.
“Maybe not to Wembley but we will try to come back to another final. That’s what I told them.”
Klopp was also full of praise for Bayern and their departing manager Jupp Heynckes.
“First and foremost, congratulations to Bayern Munich because they won so it’s not important to speak about what happened in the game,” he said.
“Congratulations to Bayern and Jupp. You can’t begrudge him the win. We were right in it but at the end, everything came together for Bayern and they won the game.”
