Champions Manchester United will host Swansea City at Old Trafford on Sunday in the penultimate weekend of the Barclays English Premier League.
Though the home team has nothing left to play for in terms of league position, this match will commemorate the last home game of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who announced his retirement from managing United after this season.
Sir Alex has been in charge of the Red Devils since the last 26 years and has won 13 league titles in the process. David Moyes, current Everton manager, has been signed by the club to take over from Sir Alex next year.
Many fans will be looking forward to Sir Alex’s farewell speech as is customary for retiring managers to make in their last home game with the team. The United players will be keen on giving him a farewell to remember.
Swansea City are currently at the 9th position in the league table with 46 points. They will take heart from the fact that leading goalscorer Michu might recover from his injury in time to play in this match.
Chico Flores and Ki Sung-yeung may also be available to play this match for the visitors. Goalkeeper Michael Vorm has failed to recover from the concussion he received in Swansea’s last outing against Wigan Athletic and goalscorer Angel Rangel may also be absent due to a recurrent calf injury.
Interestingly, Swansea City have never won against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the 8 visits they have made there in the history of their club.
Probable line ups:
Manchester United: De Gea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Smalling, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Kagawa, Valencia, Nani, van Persie
Swansea: Tremmel, Flores, Williams, Tiendalli, Davies, De Guzman, Britton, Routledge, Hernandez, Dyer, Michu
