Bayern Munich have done most of the hard work in their Champions League quarter-final with Juventus but the job is not complete just yet.
Keeping a clean sheet at the Allianz Arena in their 2-0 win over the Serie A champions sees the Bavarian club firmly in control of the tie and there is little doubt in my mind they will advance.
Even though Juventus have one of the meanest defences in Europe this term it is pretty difficult to see Bayern not finding the net in Northern Italy but this is a game the visitors need not win and I’m surprised they are clear favourites.
Juventus look set to collect another Scudetto domestically and have impressed in the Champions League this term, too.
They appear to have found one too good in Bayern but have a proud home record and Nordsjaelland, Chelsea and Celtic have all been dispatched this season without scoring in this competition.
Bayern are actually the only side to win at Juventus in the Champions League in the last decade, a 4-1 win back in 2009, and they got off to the best possible start in Germany last week when scoring inside the first minute.
Thomas Muller added another in the second half after an uncharacteristic Gianluigi Buffon error but I don’t think there is an enormous amount between the pair and I’d have Bayern Munich bigger than the 2.50 or thereabouts available.
Both warmed up for Wednesday’s clash with victories on the weekend to preserve their sizeable leads in Serie A and the Bundesliga respectively and Juventus have won five on the bounce at home.
An early goal for the hosts would bring the tie to life and I am chancing them at odds against in the draw no bet market.
The 2.10 in a place could look very generous should Juventus get off to a flyer and Bayern, who lost 2-0 to Arsenal after appearing control of their last 16 clash, might have been overestimated by the odds compilers.
