Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho says he had no time to feel nervous despite surviving a major scare in his side’s 3-2 loss to Galatasaray in their UEFA Champions League quarter final second leg.
The Spanish champions enjoyed a 3-0 victory in the first leg and added a fourth goal to their aggregate lead when Cristiano Ronaldo netted on seven minutes.
However, Galatasaray hit back with three goals in 15 minutes through Emmanuel Eboue, Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba to suddenly be in with a chance to overturning the deficit. Ronaldo, though, would seal Real’s progress with a 90th-minute strike.
“I had no time to be nervous. I don’t have time to feel nervous on the sidelines,” Mourinho told reporters.
“I know [Galatasaray] are strong. Mentally they are strong.
“They did not play with 11 men today, they played with 50,000 – incredible supporters. It was hard and they deserved to win tonight.”
