Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes has hailed his side’s historic feats after they clinched the 2012-13 German Bundesliga title on Saturday,
The Bavarian giants secured a record 22nd German top flight title with a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
Bayern are 20 points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund with six games to play, representing the earliest time the title has been won.
“The fact that we have won the title after 28 games is extraordinary, it’s simply fantastic,” Heynckes told reporters.
“One of the things FC Bayern have demonstrated this season is that we’re a top side, but we have done it with harmony in the team.
“We can be confident we will achieve something in the Champions League.”
Bayern lost last season’s Champions League final to Chelsea and are firmly focused on remedying that situation. Bayern claimed a 2-0 first leg advantage over Juventus in their quarter final in midweek.
