Barcelona’s caretaker manager Jordi Roura says his side were “at an extraordinary level” in Sunday’s 6-1 romp over Getafe which saw them move 12 points clear in Spain’s La Liga.
The Catalans reiterated their dominance in Spain, with an outstanding performance where Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi gave them a two-goal half-time lead. Further strikes from David Villa, Rodrigo Tello, Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique sealed a huge win.
“The players were at an extraordinary level. They were intense from the first minute,” Roura told reporters.
Roura also had high praise for Iniesta, who netted the final goal in the lopsided triumph.
“He played at an extremely high level,” he said. “He plays with such ease, he makes football look so easy. This is what makes him great.”
He also had praise for Sanchez, stating: “We’re very pleased with his work and attitude. He’s been a bit unlucky lately and I think he scored a great goal … that goal gave him a lot of confidence.”
