Internazionale boss Andrea Stramaccioni says there’s no rift with striker Antonio Cassano after he stormed off in Saturday’s 2-0 Serie A win over Pescara.
Cassano, who assisted Rodrigo Palacio’s opening goal, was visibly upset after being replaced by Tommaso Rocchi on 68 minutes as Inter moved up to third.
“It is only normal that he was disappointed, as he did have chances,” Stramaccioni told reporters.
“You can see from that reaction how much he cares about the Inter shirt, but I preferred to give Tommaso Rocchi his home debut. We also have to prepare for Tuesday’s Coppa Italia tie.
“There is nothing to clarify with Cassano. He simply wanted to stay on the field for longer.”
The Inter boss added he felt his injury-ravaged side was beginning to find its balance with youngsters like Marco Benassi impressing.
“It went well, because the most important thing we take from this game is that we are rediscovering our balance. That is what allowed us to string together a series of positive results earlier this season,” Stramaccioni said.
“Pescara played a careful game, while we have improved in terms of performance compared to recent outings.”
