The Manchester Derby ended with Manchester United winning by three goals to two but the game was marred by a badly behaved City fan. Chelsea managed to get their first premier league victory under interim boss Rafa Benitez beating Sunderland 3-1.

City started the game very well keeping possession for most of the 15 opening minutes but then Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney gave his team a two goal cushion going into break. The first goal scored on the stroke of the 16th minute was a miscued shot that crept into the far post while the second was an amazing display of counter attacking football scored in the 29th minute.

The introduction of Carlos Tevez in the 52nd minute gave the team their much needed impetus. Tevez assisted Yaya Toure to score the opening goal for City in the 60th minute after which the entire team kept constant pressure on their arch rivals. Late in the second half in the 86th minute Zabaleta latched onto a ball outside the box which came via a corner and smashed it through everyone into the back of the net, leveling the game at 2-2.

Robin van Persie proved to be the difference yet again after scoring the winner in injury time via a free kick. The ball went into the net courtesy of Samir Nasri who was supposed to be part of the wall but in fact deflected the ball into the net while he was trying to move out the way. As a result he ended City’s unbeaten streak of 37 home games which lasted for almost two whole calendar years.

The game ended in a bad way with a derange Manchester City fan hurling a coin at Rio Ferdinand and then running onto the pitch to confront him. He was luckily stopped by City keeper Joe Hart.

Chelsea boss Benitez managed to instil some confidence in striker Fernando Torres. Torres has pumped in four goals in the last two games. Against Sunderland he latched onto a Hazard cross after he sneaked in-between the two Sunderland center backs and hammered the ball home as early as the 11th minute.

The second goal was scored from the penalty spot. David Luiz stepped up to take the shot, but Fernando was adamant on taking it and ended up doubling the lead in the last minute of injury time of the first half.

Early in the second half Torres who was on a hat-trick unfortunately hit the crossbar but Chelsea was lucky enough as Juan Mata ensured that the he slotted home on the rebound in the 49th minute.

Sunderland pulled back one consolation goal via Adam Johnson, but that did not prove to be enough to begin a late surge from the home side. The game ended 3-1 ensuring that the Blues take home all the three points.
