A wide open Capital One Cup at the quarter-final stage and each of the eight remaining side will fancy their chances of contesting the Wembley showpiece.

The market is dominated by Arsenal and Chelsea but the solitary all-Premier League clash comes at Carrow Road on Tuesday where Norwich host Aston Villa and the evens about a home win will do for me.

The match in East Anglia sees the return of Villa manager Paul Lambert to his former club but it is the Canaries that are currently flying high and there is no reason to suspect their top flight form is about to desert them.

Lambert’s replacement, Chris Houghton, didn’t enjoy the best of starts this term but he has galvanised a City team that survived with something to spare last season and they look like doing so again.

There has been no fluke about Norwich’s recent run of results which has seen them climb the table and it is now an incredible ten matches unbeaten.

That sequence of results started with a 1-0 home win over Arsenal while Norwich have also dispatched Manchester United and Tottenham in the same period, the latter a 2-1 victory over the London club in the previous round of this competition.

In contrast to Norwich’s terrific efforts of late, Villa continue to struggle and Lambert must still be extremely concerned about just where the goals might come from.

A goalless draw with Stoke on Saturday means Villa have now found the net just twice in their previous five matches, all of which were winless, and they are prone to a thumping on their travels.

The 1-0 triumph at Sunderland last month was Villa’s first in the Premier League away from home since January and they are taken on once more with plenty of confidence.
