The meeting of two struggling sides at the Liberty Stadium this weekend and Swansea can be opposed at a shade of odds on.
The Welsh club host Reading and the pair have combined for exactly zero in their previous nine Premier League matches.
Swansea did start the new campaign where they left off with impressive back-to-back wins but Michael Laudrup’s men are now devoid of any confidence following three comprehensive beatings, all without scoring, and Reading will fancy their chances.
Swansea had a decent overall record in the top flight last season in front of their own fans but they were prone to the odd shocker and their defeat a fortnight ago on home soil was one such example.
Completely overrun by a rampant Everton side, Swansea could barely compete with the Toffees and Royals manager Brian McDermott will have taken great encouragement from the 3-0 defeat suffered by Reading’s upcoming hosts.
McDermott himself must be buoyed by two improved performances after a sluggish start to life back in the Premier League and five goals scored in their last couple of outings bodes well.
A 3-2 win at Loftus Road in the League Cup over QPR was the platform for a decent effort in Berkshire when holding Newcastle last time out and it should have been even better against the Magpies.
Twice Reading led only to be pegged back by a Demba Ba brace and they have enough quality going forward to cause Swansea trouble.
The problem for both this pair is defensively, it is 20 goals conceded between them already, but there is currently little to choose between them and Swansea must be opposed at the prices.
Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has been an instant hit for the Royals since his summer move and might just prove the difference in what is expected to be a tight contest.
