Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi is aiming to finally claim some silverware on the international level with Argentina.
The FC Barcelona superstar has won the Uefa Champions League, La Liga as well as the Club World Cup with the Spanish giants, however he has never tasted glory on the international scene with his country.
Argentina crashed out in the final eight at the 2010 World Cup, while they had a forgettable 2011 Copa America on home turf.
“I have had the good fortune to win trophies with my team and on a personal level,” Messi said ahead of the Albiceleste’s World Cup qualifier with Paraguay on Friday.
“I am missing one with the senior team. That is my dream.
“It is a difficult road to the World Cup. We want to win against Paraguay and Peru.”
He added: “I do not know if this is my best year with the national team. We have won a few games in a row and it is a while since we managed that.”
