Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear star midfielder Kaka won’t be leaving the club for free with AC Milan reportedly interested.
Speaking after Real’s 5-1 win over Milan in New York, Mourinho discussed Kaka’s future with it understood the Brazil international is keen to find a new home after struggling to be a key part of the current side.
“Nobody goes for free to these places. If you want something, you have to pay for it,” Mourinho told reporters.
He added: “I would be happy if Kaka stays with us or is sold, what I want is that he himself is happy. It is always said in football that a player plays where he wants.
“My arms are open if he wants to continue - against Milan he showed also that he is a great player and can compete.”
Milan boss Max Allegri admitted a move for the former World Footballer of the Year could happen, although nothing was yet being discussed.
“That is a decision for the board, not for me… we will see what happens in the future,” Allegri said.
“The transfer window is open until August 31 and anything is possible.”
